About

North Star Midwifery is written by Aly Folin, a homebirth midwife and mom in St Paul, MN. I plan to write about birth (specifically homebirth), politics around homebirth and midwifery and issues for parents who are choosing homebirth. I also write about specific topics for parents to be such as nutrition in pregnancy, newborn care, breastfeeding, postpartum care, and parenting. I hope to also have a birth story each month written by a mom who has been in my care. All information written about specific births will be done so with the express permission of the family written about.

If you would like more information about my practice, please visit my website at: North Star Midwifery

  1. Sorry to write again, I’m not sure you got my last comment, as when I tried to put in the website (as it asks for it below) my entire message disappeared. Not sure what I said except that I love your simple website, you are a gifted writer, keep up the good work. Also that I have a film from a play that I wrote called Singing the Bones (www.fatsalmon.ca) and would love to come to your community – a film is a great event to call everyone out to discuss birth and all the issues surrounding it … I’m north of Seattle 1-604-886-3634. My name is Caitlin Hicks

  2. This is a wonderful blog – reading positive birth stories in preparation for birth is so important. Keep up the good work!
